There is no arguing that New York City is a magical place. My quota for time in the city is about ten days – after that I have to flee. While I am there I find myself invigorated and intoxicated by the constant buzz of life, but after a while my senses become dulled. The last few times I’ve been to New York I’ve left the digital camera at home and only allowed myself to bring a little point and shoot camera and some film. It makes me a tourist but without the barrier that an SLR imposes. I can see and feel, turning off the overly analytical and technical side of my brain that I often use with other cameras and I simply react.
