Mardi Gras Weekend (Baton Rouge and New Orleans)

On Saturday and Sunday we attended vastly different Mardi Gras celebrations in two different cities. The first, in Baton Rouge, was the Spanish Town Mardi Gras. It was early morning and the streets brimmed with people grilling out and drinking beer. It was more of a street party than anything else but was incredibly warm and colorful. The next day we got up and went to New Orleans where we haunted Bourbon Street for a while and saw the Bacchus Parade later in the evening. Still fresh from the Superbowl, the whole city seemed jubilant. While the appeal of being crammed between hundreds of intoxicated people grabbing for beads is lost on me the visual opportunities from those situations isn’t. We made it through the night and thankfully had the next day off from drinking and partying before we headed to Mamou for Fat Tuesday.

Coming up next is a different perspective from these two days that is part of a new long-term project I am embarking on.
