I am on vacation with my wife and son in Hawaii for three weeks – visiting family and relaxing. I haven't been shooting much, so I imagined this week that I would just have a byline in lieu of my column that read: "Daryl Peveto is on vacation this week, his column will resume again in two weeks." Then I realized that the point of this whole column for me is to see what is right in front of me. I decided instead to wander around the ranch we are staying on and the northern part of the island.
It was a great excuse to get out of the house, away from my computer and just explore. I found a nice hike to a remote valley and the makings of a story here for my alternative energy project. It was a beautiful afternoon of getting lost down dirt roads and finding my way back to what a really love: making images.
