I shot a GenF portrait assignment for FADER recently of the LA sister duo Puro Instinct. It was a bit of a last minute thing. I normally try to spend time before these shoots acquainting myself with the artists, listening to their music and what not. But I had no time here. So I walked into their home and with about an hour, got what I needed. I always try to collaborate on these things, but sometimes I become fixated on an idea that drives the shoot. I suppose this is good for some assignments, but for this one it was so nice just to walk in with nothing. I hung out and talked to Skylar and Piper and made frames entirely of that moment and exchange. They were very cool, almost forgetting that I was there. Their dreamy music seems very instinctual and very much a part of who they are, both as young women and as sisters. I hope that the images reflect that.
