When I found out there was a North Georgia high school football team with Rebels as a mascot, I added their first game to my calendar for my ongoing Facing South project. Sure enough, there were Confederate flags everywhere at Fannin County High School’s game. When the first touchdown was scored, three students with flags ran the length of the field. It’s not often a photographer gets to wander a sporting event of any size and can ignore the sports action.
