It’s really hard to boil down a year of assignments and projects and portraits and personal images down to a small handful. Certain images stand out in our minds because of the memories that accompany them, because of the way the light fell across the scene, because the impact the subject had on our lives.
“Best” is relative. “Best” is personal.
2011 was a very exciting year for LUCEO. We opened the LUCEO Store. We had two successful group shows–the first in New York City in January, the second at Look 3: Festival of the Photograph in Charlottesville, Virginia in June. Our members had work in a slew of solo and group exhibitions across the world, as well. We added editorial and commercial clients to our roster. We pushed Few and Far Between to grow and evolve and went on a road trip across small towns in the West. We created powerful multimedia as a group and as individuals. The LUCEO Press launched 2×2, which are limited edition magazines featuring two projects by two LUCEO photographers.
You could say 2011 was LUCEO’s best year yet, so we are very excited to start 2012 with an exhibition we have put a lot of sweat and creative energy into: Greater Than The Sum, which will be a one-night-only show January 13, 2012 at 25CPW in NYC. We hope to see you there.
Of course, we would be remiss if we didn’t thank you for your support. LUCEO is propelled by supportive photographers, editors, art buyers, gallery owners, our families, and photo lovers so thank you all!
Without further adieu, here are five favorite images from 2011 from each of our members:
