I’m catching up on blogging now that I’m back in the office after a month and a half of shoots and meetings and an incredible LUCEO exhibition. I’ve got a couple more posts from my time in Memphis to share as I plot a trip back.
Beale Street is Memphis’ Bourbon Street. It has its share of bars and souvenir shops, but it’s really packed with music venues. On the corner, at the start of the strip, is BB King’s Blues Club, where I stopped by for an amazing show. (BB is actually short for “Beale Street Blues Boy,” by the way.)
Music spills into the streets from open bars, musicians play on street corners, music (and beer) is everywhere.
I wandered the street twice–once with a FADER writer after a long day, and once as faux Elvi and Gene Simmons and angels and devils were out the weekend before Halloween.
