Matt Eich’s Carry me Ohio project is currently featured on David Allen Harvey’s Burn Magazine, as on of the ten finalists for the Emerging Photographer Grant for 2010. Eich came in second place for the $15,000 grant which was announced at the LOOKbetween photo festival for emerging photographers. Congrats to Davide Monteleone for his win and a special thanks to David Allen Harvey for his support.

LUCEO at LOOKbetween Festival in PDN

PDN Editor Holly Hughes wrote a wonderful recap of the LOOKbetween Festival for emerging photographers. The weekend was hosted by the fine folks behind LOOK3. It invited 81 emerging photographers along with photo editors and veteran photographers to Deep Rock Farm for discussions on the state of the industry and photo presentations in the evening.

LUCEO Student Project Award in PDN

“Davide Monteleone has won the $15,000 Emerging Photographer Grant from Burn Magazine and the non-profit Magnum Foundation for his work on the Northern Caucuses. Burn’s founder, photographer David Alan Harvey, announced Monteleone’s prize on Saturday June 12 at the LOOKbetween festival in Charlottesville, VA.
The grant supports the continuation of a photographic project with either a journalistic purpose or purely personal and artistic intent. Monteleone has been documenting the Caucuses since 2008.
Other prizes and honors were also announced at LookBetween. Masud Alam Liton, a photo student at the Pathshala South Asian Media Academy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, won the Student Project Award from the photo cooperative LUCEO Images. Liton, who will receive $1,000 and a year’s mentorship with a photographer at LUCEO, was chosen from applicants representing 43 schools on three continents, according to LUCEO photographer Daryl Peveto…”

Matt Eich Featured in The Boston Globe

Flashes of Brilliance is an article about the Canadian nonprofit arts publisher, the Magenta Foundation, which features work every year by emerging photographers from Canada, Great Britain and the United States. Eich is one of the 2009 Flash Forward winners.

Matt Eich Interviewed by The New York Times

LUCEO’s Matt Eich is featured in an article in The New York Times titled, For Photographers, the Image of a Shrinking Path which looks at the state of photography in the era of digital photography and the internet. “People that don’t have to make a living from photography and do it as a hobby don’t feel the need to charge a reasonable rate,” says Eich.

Kevin German Interviewed for PDN
